1. OneDrive Not Syncing
Issue: Files are not uploading or downloading.
Solution:
-
Ensure you're connected to the internet.

Restart OneDrive:
-
Right-click the OneDrive icon in the system tray.
-
Select Quit OneDrive, then reopen it.
-

Reset OneDrive:
-
Press Win + R, type onedrive.exe /reset, and press Enter.
-
2. OneDrive Icon Missing from System Tray
Issue: The OneDrive icon is not visible in the taskbar.
Solution:
-
Press Win + S and search for OneDrive, then open the app.
3. Files Stuck on "Processing Changes"
Issue: OneDrive keeps showing "Processing changes" without progress.
Solution:
-
Pause and resume syncing:
-
Click the OneDrive icon and select Pause syncing for 2 hours.
-
Resume syncing after waiting 10-15 minutes.
-

4. OneDrive Keeps Signing Out
Issue: OneDrive repeatedly asks for login credentials.
Solution:
-
Ensure Windows is up to date.
-
Reset OneDrive using Win + R, and onedrive.exe /reset.
5. Slow Upload and Download Speeds
Issue: Syncing takes longer than expected.
Solution:
-
Close other applications using bandwidth.
-
Increase OneDrive's upload speed:
-
Open OneDrive settings > Network.
-
Set higher bandwidth limits.
-
-
Restart your router or switch to a faster network.
6. Added to a Folder You Don’t Have Access To
Issue: A shared folder appears in your OneDrive, but you don't have permission to access it.
Solution:
-
Try refreshing OneDrive by signing out and back in.
-
If access was mistakenly removed, request access from the folder owner.
-
If the folder/file was truly added as an accident and you wont need it you can go to where that file/folder is located and delete it.
7. Avoid Adding Links to Your Personal OneDrive or SharePoint App
Issue: Adding links/shortcuts to your personal OneDrive or SharePoint app can cause syncing and access issues.
Solution:
-
Instead of adding shortcuts, access shared folders directly from OneDrive or SharePoint the app version or the website.
-
If you have already added a shortcut and are experiencing issues, remove it in the online version of OneDrive/SharePoint:
-
Click the three dot icon to the right of the shortcut and select Remove shortcut from My Files.
-
8. Conflicting Document Versions Due to Server Issues
Issue: The online version and the version on your computer have changes we couldn't merge.
Solution:
-
Check the Version History in Word/Excel/etc. whatever Microsoft app was used for the file:
-
Right-click the file, select Version history, and review past versions or select restore previous version.
-

Click on the sync error when OneDrive is opened.
- Then choose the Open in office option to Merge changes.
- The changes will be merged and the sync issue will go away.
- Alternatively you can pick the keep both files option and it will have 2 copies of the document and you can manually go over them and transfer over any missing info to the copy saved in SharePoint.
